The practical calls that shape your trip.

Mexico is a year-round destination, but the best travel period depends on the region. November to April generally brings drier weather and comfortable temperatures along the Caribbean coast. May to October is warmer and more humid, with a greater chance of tropical showers, but it can also bring fewer crowds and better resort value.

Private transfers are the easiest option for travelling between Cancun Airport, Playa del Carmen and Tulum. Taxis work well for shorter local journeys, while organised tours are convenient for visiting cenotes, archaeological sites and nearby islands. Rental cars offer more flexibility, but road conditions, tolls and parking should be considered in advance.

Mexico offers options ranging from affordable local stays to luxury beachfront resorts. Cancun and Tulum are usually more expensive than smaller towns, especially during the peak winter season. Local restaurants and public transport offer good value, while private transfers, beach clubs, guided tours and premium resorts can significantly increase the daily budget.

Entry requirements depend on your nationality, passport and planned length of stay. Travellers should carry a valid passport and may be asked for accommodation details, proof of onward or return travel and evidence of sufficient funds. Check the latest official Mexican entry and visa requirements before departure, as immigration rules can change.

Cancun — premium all-inclusive resorts, great for families and couples, vibrant nightlife. Tulum — boutique, bohemian-luxury, eco-conscious crowd, magical cenotes. Playa del Carmen — urban energy, diverse dining, perfect mix of beach and city life.
In most cases, yes. Through our direct agreements with hotel groups, we regularly achieve savings of up to 40% compared to rack rates — plus personal support before and throughout your trip, at no extra charge.
Israeli passport holders do not need a visa for tourist stays up to 180 days. You'll need a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your entry date and a return ticket. The FMM entry form is filled out on the plane or at the border.
The sweet spot is November through April — dry, sunny, comfortable sea temps. May–October is rainy season (mostly afternoon showers) with lower prices. August–September is peak hurricane season — still flyable, but worth considering.
The tourist areas of the Yucatán Peninsula — Cancun, Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and Holbox — are considered safe and well-visited destinations. Millions of travelers visit annually without incident. We recommend staying in known hotel zones, using registered taxis or apps, and following local guidance.

Destination Guide

Dominican Republic vs Mexico vs Jamaica

The Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Jamaica each offer a different kind of Caribbean escape. Before you book, here is an honest breakdown of what each destination does well and where it falls short.

Dominican Republic Mexico Jamaica
Best For Families, honeymooners, beach lovers, and travelers looking for strong all-inclusive value Families, couples, luxury travelers, culture seekers, and repeat Caribbean visitors Couples, adults-only trips, music lovers, nature seekers, and travelers who want a strong local identity
Overall Feel Relaxed and easygoing, with tropical beaches, large resorts, warm hospitality, and a smooth vacation flow Diverse and polished, with beach resorts, nightlife, cenotes, culture, food, and major hotel zones Laid-back, soulful, scenic, and personality-driven, with a stronger island atmosphere
Hotels & Resorts Large beachfront all-inclusives, strong family resorts, adults-only hotels, and good-value luxury Wide range from mega-resorts in Cancun to boutique hotels in Tulum and luxury stays in Riviera Maya Adults-only resorts, romantic boutique stays, cliffside hotels, and classic beachfront all-inclusives
Cost & Value Usually the strongest value for all-inclusive beach vacations, especially in Punta Cana Broad range, from affordable all-inclusives to very expensive luxury and boutique hotels Often higher for premium resorts, especially adults-only and luxury beachfront properties
Beaches Long sandy beaches, especially in Punta Cana, Bayahibe, and Samaná, with calm resort-friendly stretches Excellent variety, from Cancun's clear blue water to Riviera Maya, Tulum, and quieter coastal areas Beautiful but more varied, from Seven Mile Beach to coves, cliffs, and smaller bays
Things to Do Beach days, catamaran tours, Saona Island, waterfalls, golf, water sports, mountain adventures, and resort entertainment Mayan ruins, cenotes, snorkeling, nightlife, beach clubs, food tours, shopping, and day trips Waterfalls, reggae culture, river rafting, Blue Mountains, local food, beaches, and scenic drives
Nightlife Mostly resort-based, with additional nightlife in Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, and some north-coast towns Best overall nightlife, especially in Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum More local and music-focused, with bars, beach parties, live music, and resort events
Getting Around Most travelers use private transfers, organized tours, or resort transport because destinations are spread out Depends on the area. Cancun and Playa are easier, while Tulum and Riviera Maya often require taxis or transfers Transfers are important because resort areas can be far apart and roads are slower
Family Travel Excellent, especially Punta Cana, with strong family resorts, kids' clubs, pools, and simple all-inclusive planning Excellent, especially Cancun and Riviera Maya, with many resorts, kids' clubs, and family room options Good, but more resort-dependent. Best when choosing a proven family-friendly hotel
Main Drawbacks Some trips can feel heavily resort-focused, and independent travel between regions takes more planning Popular areas can feel busy, prices vary sharply, and some zones require careful hotel selection Long transfers, higher resort prices, and less predictable value compared with Mexico or the Dominican Republic
